Pioneered by Cardiff University Professor Meena Upadhyaya, who wanted to share her experiences and empower others, the awards celebrate Asian women from all walks of life.  In total, 29 Asian women were nominated for recognition in eight categories, with a panel deciding the winners.  Categories included science and technology, young achievers and tackling violence against women.
